CIOs, Grab the Opportunities to Innovate During the Pandemic

COVID-19 has shown us how we must innovate during the pandemic, notwithstanding the bleak situation. Multiple lockdowns made organizations realize that they must strengthen their IT departments and invest in the latest technologies. Telecom projects and new technology adoption that usually take months are now done in weeks. In this article at the Enterprisers Projects, Curtis A. Carver Jr., Ph. D insists that CIOs must grab the opportunities to innovate during the pandemic.

Innovate During Pandemic: Why the Need

Formal institutions like office premises and educational institutions have state-of-the-art security systems and technologies in place. Once those were out of reach, people could not access e-learning programs nor had the infrastructure for video calls. Researchers and employees made it a point to innovate during the pandemic. They implemented and came up with final products to ease everyone’s life and streamline their work.

Better Tools, Better Chances

People were forced to remain inside to avoid the spread any further. Then they started working remotely, and now working from home is the new normal. Earlier, work-from-home opportunities were never the ideal option for many. Some leaned on it but shelved it for the future. The University of Alabama at Birmingham has embraced this chance to work from home. Since then, their speed to innovate during the pandemic has increased, and they have achieved a great deal. That is a feat they had never thought of is possible. Since new technologies ease things up, they have encountered a rapid growth in people adopting new tools and leveraging them for their daily work.

The same should go for the CIOs. Instead of feeling burdened by the sudden change of plans, find new ways to innovate during the pandemic. Pitch for new technologies more aggressively and encourage others to adopt them as well.
