Take Bold Steps for Digitization Before It’s Too Late

Organizations that are lagging in digitization efforts have an uncertain future. Being a CIO, it is your job to take measures early. In this article at CIO Dive, Chuck Fried discusses bold steps that you must take for digitization before it is too late.

Journey Towards Digitization

While you make conscious efforts towards digitization, ensure that customers do not bear the brunt of your actions. Keep their data safe and serve them well while you parallelly work on the digital transformation process. Slowly retire the legacy applications that are obsolete once you find a suitable replacement. Find here the four steps that you must take for digitization before it is too late:

Keep the Executives on Board: From start to finish, the involvement of all the board members is necessary. Update their buy-ins regularly. Ensure that your digitization goals are not hampering the growth of the company. You can transform the workplace without changing the mindset of the people working there. Train employees so that they can fully leverage the new technologies.

Make the Changes Based on Customers: Unfortunately, only 28 percent of the organizations have begun to transform. Notwithstanding the gloomy scenario, find out the reason behind the whole digitization efforts. If the customers are your focus, make the processes more comfortable to handle. Improve security protocols, tools, and networks. Extend digital support and offerings.

Do Not Keep Teams Isolated: There is a possibility of conflicts between multiple teams. You must let them understand how their collaboration can help in digitization efforts. Encouraging them to take up new roles and responsibilities is essential.

Divide Goals into Achievable Assignments: Digitization is a colossal process and a long-term one. Instead of halting all operations, divide the tasks into doable bits of tasks that employees can work on as their daily tasks.
