Three Strategies for Successful Digital Transformation

There is a quaint little phenomenon called digital transformation going around, and the few who have heard of it are discussing the best ways to implement it. In an article at TechRepublic, Alison DeNisco Rayome discusses some data from a study by Forbes Insights and Alfresco. It indicates three approaches that businesses are using to succeed with digital transformation:

  1. Design thinking
  2. Open thinking
  3. Platform thinking

Design thinking in this case thinks about how to use user/customer experience to drive business technology decisions. The report finds that the companies most succeeding at digital transformation are the ones putting their customers at the front of their attention.

Open thinking complements design thinking. It uses innovation from inside and outside the business to inspire new initiatives. And lastly, here is what Rayome has to say about platform thinking:

In platform thinking, “the desired outcome of systems and solution deployment is to build an ecosystem of partners and customers that exchange capabilities and data in a manner that creates added value,” according to the report. Nearly three-fourths of executives from the digital leader organizations said they plan to increase their provisioning of services to outside parties in the next three years, versus 28% of the digital laggards.
