Fast Line Alignment: Why Alignment is More Than Everybody Getting Along

Alignment is usually used to mean everybody collaborating equally. As in IT and the business becoming one within the company. However, Bryan Franklin points out there are other benefits beyond communication and everybody getting along. Alignment also serves as a tool for making the company’s processes faster. If the stakeholders, the executives, and the employee base are all aligned, they will all have the same goals, and they can work together toward these goals.

Imagine a company where no one stops to argue over the most important part of the process because everyone wants the same thing.  It’s like a straight line connects everyone from the highest of CEOs to the most outlying customer. This company will be faster, smarter, and more innovative because of their streamlined position.  This doesn’t have to be just some daydream. If the company can focus on aligning not just IT and the business, but the organization as a whole, there will be benefits for everyone. A great place to start is with IT.
