What Project Managers Should NOT Do

High on the list is firing people who disagree with you, hiring people you want to kiss up to, and never admitting your mistakes. Don’t put down other people’s work, or attack peers and competitors, even in the most subtle ways. But if something fails, DO be willing to take your share of the blame, and welcome new ideas and constructive criticism as a chance to improve your organization. Finally, keep in mind truth, honesty , loyalty, and friendship are not just tools to manipulate others. They are some of your most powerful assets. If you avoid all the former, and remember the latter, you will be well on your way to becoming a successful manager. The most powerful PM is not the guy in the corner who blames his unpopularity on his position of authority.
