Dream Big with a Growing IT Department

A blank piece of paper is a beautiful thing. It might look daunting, but the possibilities are endless. Jennifer Marsh reminds us that adjusting the IT department to support business growth can be the exact same way. If you find yourself facing an unexpected amount of growth, don’t be afraid to think big. It might seem scary, but now is a good time to change those components that never quite measured up.

If you could start from scratch, what would you do over? Would you hit the reset on your technology portfolio? Would you want to run everything in house or begin to leverage cloud services? Don’t be afraid to dream big, but don’t forget how crucial planning is also. Stressing out over a detailed plan or IT strategy isn’t necessary right away, but make sure you have a basic, overall plan in mind to base future decisions around. It’s not even advisable to work out a detailed plan when still faced with uncertainty. However, now is the time to embrace that uncertainty. Your organization is growing, and the sky is the limit.
