Will Robots and Drones Help in Search and Rescue Activities?

Carnegie Mellon University engineer Steven Willits talks about robots being used for search and rescue activities. He tells TechCrunch’s Brian Heater in this video how miners get trapped frequently. It is too dangerous to send even the search and rescue teams at times. His team has built ground robots that will scale the terrain. When those cannot go, the drones fly into action. They have technologies that would create 3D images of the space and send real-time images back to the base camp. Intelligent algorithms make them work autonomously.
