7 Social Media Marketing Trends That Will Dominate 2018

Social media—whether you hate it or whether you live on it, it has become a very significant new home of marketing. That means it would be prudent to keep an eye on how social media is evolving. In an article for Business 2 Community, George Beall predicts the trends we may see more of in 2018:

  1. Hiring talent for content creation
  2. Increased emphasis on video content
  3. Focus on user-generated content
  4. Increased use of stories
  5. Brand partnership to engage customers
  6. Use of live content/demos
  7. Starting conversations with individual users

The Social Market

A lot of these predictions describe natural progressions of things we are already seeing, such as the growing popularity of stories. And I see live videos being broadcast on Facebook all the time these days. To my eye, hiring talent for content creation is the one thing that warrants a deeper look:

As young consumers spend a great deal of time engaging with brands on social media, it’s imperative that brands post content that is not only relevant to their target audience, but created specifically for the platform it’s being posted on. The type of content that is best for Facebook is very different from the type best for Instagram, which means that companies have to hire experts in the content-creation space to manage their accounts. Marketing strategies often take time to create and implement, so hiring in-house talent for social media marketing is a great way to ensure success in the space.
