Employees ready to become managers shift their perspective from “I” statements to “we” statements. They prove they can manage themselves and take responsibility for whatever falls under their jurisdiction. They go beyond what is asked of them to deliver truly great results. They are eager to help others and are proactive in general. In many instances, people who are ready for management roles will start performing leadership-esque activities without even realizing it, like offering non-intrusive advice when it looks like people are stuck.
