3 Ways to Empower Your Employees and Help Them Grow

Are you considering promoting somebody to a new role? Vicki DeBlasi shares three tips at Inside BlackBerry for how to properly grow someone into new responsibilities. It begins with understanding how important training is to success. When you give someone new responsibilities, support to excel in these new areas must be provided, through training and/or mentoring. Another tip is that you should set expectations for the person in the new role up front. Beyond the usual role defining, also explain the business’s short and long-term goals and how this person’s duties are part of the grand scheme. The last thing to remember then is to incorporate regular feedback after the promotion has been made. Include what people who work under the promoted person have to say about him or her too.
