Office Air Is Hurting Your Productivity

The air conditioning keeps your office feeling just right year-round, but it might also be making you a little dumber too. In an article for Bloomberg Businessweek, Eric Roston shares the results of a study on office air. Essentially, the average amount of CO2 and chemical pollutants in an office hinders cognitive function. This determination was made after comparing such office conditions with simulated “green” office conditions. Adjusting for all other factors, study participants took tests at 3 p.m. each day, and those in the green office performed 61 percent higher than their regular office counterparts. Participants who worked in an even healthier, “Green+” environment scored 101 percent higher than those working in the ordinary office air. In other words, it could theoretically be possible to double productivity strictly by beautifying your air conditioning. Yowza. You can read the original article here:
