If you want your team to work its hardest to realize your vision, then you first need to know what motivates them as people. A post at the Lighthouse blog helps you make a connection. The most important thing you can do is assume “positive intent,” because you are less likely to get angry if team members mean well. Another idea to embody is that employee tasks should align with employees’ goals in some way. Ask people about their lives and work preferences in a not-too weird or invasive sort of way.
