How to Cope with Employees Reporting to Multiple Bosses

Matrix management structure places the fate of a single employee in the hands of multiple people. Are bosses up to the task of managing people in this way? Charity Tober writes for Chron about what can be done. First, request a clear, official hierarchy of command from upper managers or HR to remove confusion. This can then be referred back to whenever there is a discrepancy about who should be working for whom. Second, managers should regularly meet with employees supervised to discuss their schedules and project deadlines, encouraging them to keep organized records of their various assignments. Third, managers should meet with their employees’ other bosses from time to time, to best coordinate their schedules and minimize work overlap. You can read the full article here:
