Gartner: Planning Software Needs a More ‘Sense and Respond’ Model

An article at Supply Chain Digest addresses some insights from Gartner about what supply chains need to keep in tip-top shape. They predict that by 2018, “only 10% of global enterprises will have 30%, or more, of their planning capability in the respond planning category.” Back in 2012, Gartner released a functionality framework for planning applications that is worth repeating. This framework comes in three steps: configure, optimize, and respond. Until now, most planning software has emphasized the optimization aspect. Software that better factors configuration and response into the equation is steadily becoming a reality. You can read the full article here:
