Tesla is Disrupting More than Just the Car Business

Tesla Motors is building what it calls a “gigafactory,” the largest battery factory in the world, in Reno, Nevada. Adam Allington explains in an article for Supply Chain 24/7 that this factory may even be able to challenge public utilities as an energy source. This will be possible through use of development of batteries for solar generation. Indeed, this single factory will reportedly double “the worldwide capacity to manufacture lithium-ion batteries,” according to Tesla CTO J.B. Straubel. This is an excellent example of innovating by taking existing processes and technologies and applying them to a new circumstance. You can read the full article here:
