How to Turn Your Supply Chain into an Innovation Engine

Erwin Hermans wants to help you get your engine revved, and by engine, I mean supply chain, and by revved, I mean innovated. He breaks it all down in a guest article at The 21st Century Supply Chain.

Hermans recommends replacing typical “highest quality/lowest cost” conceptions of an effective supply chain and replacing them with ideas such as “Which supply chains differentiate the most, innovate the most, and enable product realization?” In order for supply chains to differentiate, he offers a few steps. Ask yourself what the big new idea is, decide how the supply chain influences the idea, determine drivers behind customer behavior that the supply chain enables, and finally decide how supply chain strengths can help bring a new product or service to market.
