Ah, the great trend of homeworking: all the comforts and conveniences of a flexible schedule, less hassle, and without the commute. But as Roman Krznaric for The Guardian warns, not all bosses think this (anti-)workplace trend is such a great idea yet. Here are five practices for showing you can earn your keep working from home.

Five from the Futon

For starters, you need a space that will be free from distractions, a work sanctuary of sorts. Second, limit your time surfing the net. If this is easier said than done, try a free internet blocker app like Freedom. To stay disciplined with time, make to-do lists. The effectiveness of this tactic might surprise you. Of course, don’t get too caught up in your self-imposed isolation. Arrange for human contact too. Finally, exploit your new-found flexibility to arrange work only at your most productive hours.
