If people are telling you to jump off a bridge, they are probably giving you bad advice, unless maybe you are on fire. For those times that you are not a raging inferno though, Gerald Buck writes an article about four ways to identify bad advice. Ask yourself these questions. Does the advice make sense? Is the information current? Has this advice helped others become successful? Does the advice suit the situation? Answering no to any of those questions could be reason for pause.
