Meridith Levinson writes for CIO.com about how shy people can keep up in the networking game. Start small with your networking events. Tap into passions when seeking events to attend. Stop apologizing for asking for people’s help, since that is the purpose of networking, and ask people for introductions. Embrace an ability to smile and ask questions, while continuing to be yourself. Think of ice breakers in advance to take pressure off yourself, and try your best to shrug off fear of rejection. Be willing to take a risk for success. But if all else fails, you can always find a therapist.
