The housing market is an iffy thing these days; you might lose money on the sale of your home. Another reason might be if you are unwilling to try a long-distance relationship with a significant other, or if you are unsure you can support yourself and a spouse at this new location. Cost of living in general at a new location might outweigh the general pay raise you receive, especially in a place like New York City. Remember that the grass is always greener, and you are setting yourself up for disappointment if you aggrandize this new job opportunity too much.
