The housing market is an iffy thing these days; you might lose money on the sale of your home. Another reason might be if you are unwilling to try a long-distance relationship with a significant other, or if you are unsure you can support yourself and a spouse at this new location. Cost of living in general at a new location might outweigh the general pay raise you receive, especially in a place like New York City. Remember that the grass is always greener, and you are setting yourself up for disappointment if you aggrandize this new job opportunity too much. Lastly, if your gut really wants to turn down the offer, then that is probably what you want to do.
