4 Reasons Why SEM Is Better Than SEO

Search engine marketing (SEM) is the practice of placing ads above search results, and David T. Scott writes for Fast Company that SEM could be a better strategy for getting eyeballs than SEO.

Why SEM Prevails

It is widely known that SEO is woefully unpredictable. SEM meanwhile allows you yourself to select keywords and pay for ads. Measuring hits from SEM is also much simpler, because it is difficult to tell when search engine hits are from a cold search or if someone is actively seeking you out after hearing about you. Finishing in second or third place in SEM is no big deal either, as people are just as likely to click second and third-placed ads as they are the first-placed one. Best of all, with SEM, its success mostly just depends on how well it is written. That is definitely something a business can control.
