5 Tips to Lead Effective Conference Calls

There are subtle differences between leading a conference in one room and leading a conference with people across the world. Lisa Quast has five tips for taking charge over the phone.

Begin by setting up a practice call to initiate yourself with conferencing/webinar software, because no one likes to have time wasted waiting on someone to figure out technology. All the same, when technology fails you, have a backup plan ready to go for providing essential information. This probably means sending advance copies of the information electronically. Prep your room to make sure speakers will be adequately heard by the phone. Play host by arriving at the call line early and keeping a list of who else has arrived.
