How to Transition into the Manager Role

Lynn Dessert has the cutest last name I have ever heard, but aside from that, she also has some quick tips for transitioning into management. She says you should understand that there is a difference between liking someone and respecting someone, and if people do not like you, it is going to hurt your leadership. In order to earn both likeability and respect, exert your new power slowly and demonstrate your competency in a tactful way as often as possible. Be honest to your team about challenges you anticipate in your transition to management, and listen to their concerns as well. Open discussion builds trust. You can have more Dessert here:
