Supply Chain Key to Success in China

Michael Zakkour reevaluates the role that China plays in supply chains for Forbes. He says the days where China only factored into the “Make” and “Ship” parts of the equation are over, and the country now needs to be considered in all six of the “mega-processes” of supply chain. These processes are “Plan,” “Make,” “Buy,” “Store,” “Distribute,” and “Sell.” Zakkour goes on to predict key trends of China this year, highlighting distribution, transportation costs and parcel providers, the impact of e-commerce, the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, and sourcing. He foresees that it will be a great challenge to build the logistics infrastructure to enable a transformation into a domestic consumption-driven society.
