Left-Brained and Right-Brained ITSM

Are you left-brained or right? The way you answer that question doesn’t just affect your personality, but also how you work and what you find fun. Professor P. Ross S. Wise explains many IT people have been shown to be left-brained. This means they are logical and rational people who do well memorizing the facts and taking exams.

However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a place for right-brained people in the IT world. Right-brained people have the ability to think holistically, which is an important function in ITSM. Plus, fact and logic is good, but it becomes outstanding when balanced with the empathy and harmony a right-brained people brings. A mixed bag of personalities means more outside the box thinking, leading to far more solved problems then if everyone on your team thought about things in the same way.

Don’t be afraid to recruit a variety of employees. It takes all kinds of people to run a company, and if you want your employees to think outside the box, you should to.
