Getting Wired In: How to Get Focused and Get Your Work Done Effectively

If a madman with a chainsaw is pounding on your door and you do not even hear the hiss of the saw blade, that is when you know you are tuned into your work. Marissa Bracke has seven tips to help achieve that level of focus. Be proactive about eliminating potential interruptions. Associate a specific behavior with starting work, so it trains your brain to get focused. Know in advance what you want to get done. Block out email and social media when possible; consider the “Concentration” app for help. Choose the right background noise to keep you engaged. Build breaks into the routine. Then remember not to hate yourself when you cannot get wired in; it is important to remember that there will be some days when the magic just is not happening.
