If you want to travel like an expert, you need to find an expert who travels. Enter Larry Olmstead, contributor to Forbes and a full-time journalist for almost 20 years. According to Olmstead, one of the most common questions he’s asked is how to plan for travel while still staying productive. In this post, he discusses a few of the more important elements of a successful trip. For one thing, he recommends using ATMs for as-needed cash, but to use a credit card as much as possible. Furthermore, use a travel agent (even if you don’t think you need to) for the sake of convenience and because they can often get amazing deals for you. Also consider getting a local or international SIM card & using Skype to communicate with the home base.
