foodBalancing proper IT service management is a little like being on a diet. No, your goal is not to be the biggest loser, but that doesn’t mean that IT professionals couldn’t use a tip or two from Jillian Michaels to whip their companies into shape. Earl Begley of the ITSM Review explains how ITSM is similar to a weight-loss strategy.

· Don’t fall for hype: If the quick fix sounds too good to be true, it probably is. The key is to think about the long-term goals and to adopt good habits along the way.

· Build a plan that works for you: Just like diets, there are many different ITSM frameworks. And what works for one organization might not work for another.

· If the plan is not working, change it: If your body becomes used to a certain exercise routine, you switch it up to optimize the results.  Don’t be afraid to switch up your ITSM plan if it’s not giving you the outcome you want.

Your ITSM goal might not be flatter abs or bulging biceps, but the strength your organization will develop as a result of your rigorous service management routine will be well worth the effort.
