Mitigating Risks with Tech Tools

Technology is our friend, and we would do well not to forget it. Margin erosion, sudden demand change, product flow disruption, and quality failure are chief risk concerns in supply chains, and yet most organizations do not realize new technologies are available to help in all of these areas. Natalie Burg writes in an article at Forbes about a few of the tools that can really stand to fortify the supply chain. For starters, product lifecycle management (PLM) monitors a product from conception to delivery using real-time data to avoid costly oversights. Event management software meanwhile sends specific types of alert to specific people to monitor when shipment parameters have been violated. For medium-size companies without their own IT department, there is an inventory management app provided by BizSlate that displays real-time inventory and allows orders to be placed into a live system. Whether it is cutting costs or speeding up time tables, each of these three tools provides an efficient new way to mitigate risk.
