Five Tips for Disconnecting from Work While on Vacation

Taking a vacation is all about getting away from the drudge of the daily grind, and yet you still find yourself sitting at a computer in a hotel room at Disney World while the rest of your family is having fun. Chris Moore writes at CIO.com about five ways to stop letting that happen. First, do not call anyone at the office for any reason. Lock up any work-related devices and do not touch them. Leave an email and voice message that makes it apparent you are out of town and utterly unavailable. If you must check email, respond as infrequently as possible. Lastly, if you do have a work-related thought, jot it down in a journal and recall it later. You have the rest of your life to slave away at work; let vacation be a vacation.
