Get Immediate Value from Your New Hire

Business orientation, expectations alignment, political connection, and cultural adaptation are the four areas new hires need to master, and Amy Gallo of the Harvard Business Review says it is those last two that are most difficult to learn. To counteract this, she says you should start early in indoctrinating them to company culture. Introduce new hires to all the key personnel in the informal or “shadow” organization who know how to get things done, and then get new hires working right away; hands-on learning is a win-win situation. You already hired these people, so now is the time to believe in their abilities.
