Ever Have These Communication Problems?

Have you ever experienced communication so problematic that it slowed down your workday to a crawl? Or, even more serious, project communication so faulted that it drew the project close to failure? You’re not alone: miscommunication and communication problems can account for plenty of wasted time and money, as this article by Laurie Reeves points out.

But bad communication doesn’t just happen (though it might seem to), it’s a mix of both the communicator and the listener making mistakes: the communicator can make mistakes by choosing the wrong way to communicate or by being too vague, while the listener can make mistakes by not seeking clarification or not properly reviewing the information that was shared.
