Want to Be a Better Leader? Put Yourself First

NapoleonIf you really want to inspire your people to action, make yourself the example. Carrie Kerpen talks about this philosophy in relating her experience about becoming the CEO of Likeable Media. Wanting to live up to the shoes of the former CEO (her husband), she first decided to get back in shape, both physically and mentally, to embody the leader she wanted to be. She cut out fast food, made time to cook dinner for her family three days a week, and started taking classes about various things that interested her. As a result, her work productivity exploded. Kerpen recommends that you set personal goals, take time for yourself, write down how you feel about it, and to always keep moving.
