Project Management is Issue Management

Kerry Wills cites two of the most important elements of a successful project: One, diligence in planning and two, rapid issue closure. It sounds like a pretty straight forward formula, but the “rapid issue closure” part is a bit more complex than simply resolving issues quickly. Rapid issue closure requires immediate identification, mitigation and data capture. It also requires a clear and immediate issue escalation process, hastening the process of resolution and shifting the focus from “blame” to “solution.”
