Different Perceptions of Risk on Projects

It's easy to get 3 different stories about the same single incident — and the understanding of what constitutes risk, and how to manage it, is much the same. This article from Lynda Bourne recounts an article from the Project Management Journal where the various perceptions of risk (and how the risk is then handled based on that perception) is explained. Why does it matter? Your perception of a risk and your stakeholder's perception of a risk can be remarkably different, and being able to identify that difference is essential for healthy projects.
