10 reasons ITIL spooks IT managers

ITIL is effective, plain and simple. But why are IT managers so hesitant to adopt it into their organizations? This post by Denise Dubie gives us 10 reasons why IT managers are skittish at the idea of re-aligning their organization. Not surprisingly, “change” starts the list, followed by “measurement”, that is, providing metrics for evaluation. In IT organizations that are used to not being directly accountable for time spent on every project, the feeling of Big Brother takes hold. The other reasons include complexity, process selection, and expectations of executive management.
