Want Good IT Customer Service? Visit Your Library

The library might be a great place to pick up a book or learn about the history of your neighborhood, but Dr. Dawn Thistle also suggests it’s a great place to learn something about customer service, too. In this article, Dr. Thistle explains how the biggest problem facing IT is a focus on technology and not on the client. This is where librarians come in. Reference librarians focus solely on what the “customer” needs, sorting out what they are really looking for rather than what they think they are looking for. It makes them masters at customer service, and this is part of why IT should pay attention to their technique.
