Many CIOs see themselves as poised to bring new, exciting opportunities to both IT and the business as a whole, but many business execs see the CIO as someone to make sure the lights say on. What's the answer? Well, according to Eric Lundquist, it's a matter between recognizing what must happen and what can happen. The CIO has to make sure that standard IT operations continue, but that doesn't mean that they can't also provide insight and leadership towards innovation.
