Pick an Option, Any Option!

The concepts and processes around managing risk are as varies as the types of risk one can encounter. This post by Tom Mochal suggests that all responses and risk management strategies can be boiled down into just five responses: monitor the risk, don’t do anything about the risk, assign the risk to someone else, mitigate the risk, or avoid (eliminate) the risk. While the high level list looks simple (or even incorrect), Mochal explains the situations and outcomes of those five options in a way that challenges the reader to think about how different risk management responses can positively or negatively affect the organization.
