Most CIOs on the board but have little business influence

More and more CIOs are finding themselves within the boardroom (according to this article, about 79%), but that doesn't mean that they are part of the strategic planning of the organization. CIOs are struggling to present a business plan that the CEO can translate into action , and that makes them seem irrelevant to many other board members. This article from Computer World UK examines some of the details around this frustrating phenomena. The solution is for CIOs to talk the language of the board room: present business reasons for IT changes, including how they can save money or align to business objectives.
