More CIOs Are Gaining Stature As Business Strategists

The role of the CIO is always changing – and adding “business strategist” to the list of titles shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone. According to Kim Nash of, it’s a matter of credibility – as CIOs can prove their ability to affect the bottom line and company profitability, business leaders become more willing to listen to what the CIO has to say about what can drive the business. This isn’t to say that every CIO can begin stepping into marketing board meetings, but with the expansion of mobile data and burgeoning analytics, it only makes sense that the CIO will become ever more included in the direction and pulse of the business.
