ITIL Role Conflicts and Synergies

There are unique dangers to smaller companies that implement ITIL. In this article from Tech Republic, the risks of having a single resource handle multiple ITIL roles is examined, suggesting that in most cases the resource possessing multiple roles will work against themselves ( or, even worse, jeopardize the benefits of ITIL). An example comes from combining the Release manager and Service Test manager. Depending on time constraints, a resource acting as both may ignore a small error for the sake of staying on time ““ a situation that is much less likely to occur if the two roles were separate.
