For instance, Ditmore suggests that junior staff focus on building core skills: attempt to get certifications and understand the ins and out of your business as much as possible. For midlevel staff, he suggests spreading your education to other technical areas, allowing yourself to become more valuable. Furthermore, if you plan to move to a CTO or CIO position, work on your team leadership skills at this point as well. Finally, if you’re a senior staff member, consider investigating what you could learn about and what could either make you more valuable in your position or springboard you into the CIO role.
