CIOs have plenty of skills – but this blog post from The Accidental Successful CIO is more concerned with the skills that CIOs typically are missing. The list starts with communication: do you know how to ask the right questions, give the right answers, and listen to advice. Next is the ability to promote what they create: don't just assume that if you build something great people will know about it. The CIO needs to be their own salesman and cheerleader. Finally, CIOs should work on building their network as much as possible. Having strong relationships with other execs and business leaders in the company is always a good idea.
